A GUIDE TO GOOD READING:
MIDDLE-SCHOOL FICTION
One of the goals of the LCDS English Department is “to enhance students’ pleasure in reading, so they will want to read books in their leisure time throughout their lives.” In an effort to accomplish this mission, English teachers frequently ask middle-school students to choose a selection from “A Guide to Good Reading.” This year, we are pleased to introduce an interactive, online version of the classic LCDS reading guide. This guide will be updated annually to offer the newest and best in young adult fiction.
The Guide to Good Reading wiki, located on the LCDS library page of the School’s website, provides book recommendations for students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. The book suggestions are arranged alphabetically by author according to their year of publication. Awards are listed, and links to book descriptions are provided. We hope these features will help to make the summer reading book selection process as painless as possible. The guide also should serve as an excellent resource for finding outside reading books throughout the school year.
Happy Reading!
